Does my file get uploaded anywhere?

No. Every conversion runs in your browser using JavaScript and, for some formats, WebAssembly. Your file never leaves your device.

Why is there a size limit on some tools?

Because the conversion runs on your device rather than a server, very large files can be slow or memory-heavy depending on your device. Each tool shows a guide limit for what works smoothly on most machines — you're always free to try a larger file anyway.

Why do some formats have two versions of the same tool?

A few conversions (particularly video) are heavy enough that we offer a lighter, restricted version alongside a full, unrestricted one, so lower-powered devices have a version that will reliably work.
